TripleBlind & Snowflake Partnership Discussion

AJ:
AJ Sebilla, here with TripleBlind’s VP of Partnerships and Licensing, Chris Barnett. We’re excited to hear more about the new partnership between Snowflake and TripleBlind. So let’s jump right in. So Chris, TripleBlind had a big announcement recently about a new partnership with Snowflake. Tell me more about that.
Chris:
Yeah. So we announced the partnership recently. And AJ, I appreciate getting together with you here and share a little bit about that.
Chris:
We’re excited to be in the partner program. We’re just excited to announce that TripleBlind and our ability to unlock private data sharing, even with the most sensitive PII and HIPAA protected and GDPR protected data, data like that can be shared for purpose of collaboration straight out of Snowflake while the data remains encrypted the entire time.
Chris:
And what’s exciting about that is that Snowflake brings to the table in their data lake solution, their data warehouse solution, some great security already. Between masking and end to end encryption and a number of other pieces, security is already great. And then with TripleBlind added to the mix, any consumer of data that’s collaborating with an owner of data can run any AI algorithm, can run any code at all on that data, which it remains encrypted. And it just kind of blows people minds that this is possible.
AJ:
Wow. Yeah. Okay. Which of your customers and prospects do you think this is going to apply to?
Chris:
Yeah. There’s a ton, but absolutely healthcare is number one. Obviously, almost all healthcare data is protected by a HIPAA. So folks are very concerned about compliance, but they also have a great need to be productive and collaborate around the world among different medical facilities and medical establishments. And the other one is financial services. So that’s where we’re seeing the most demand from the market, is healthcare and financial services.
AJ:
TripleBlind must be pretty fired up about this. So tell me why you’re excited, and what you see as the opportunity here.
Chris:
Yeah. We’re hearing prospects and customers say, “Hey, Chris. We’ve already got our data in Snowflake.” Right? We’re super interested in bringing in a TripleBlind software, getting it set up so that we can run your API virtual exchange, API driven virtual exchange. That’s how data gets shared between two parties. And if that’s available through Snowflake as it is now, it just makes it easier for customers. So it’s really the proverbial plug and play.
AJ:
So how does this work from the standpoint of someone using it? Is it an integration? Is it a plug and play? Can you tell me a little more about that?
Chris:
Right. Great question. Integration is kind of a bad word in the IT and the internet world because people don’t like integrations. They’re afraid. The good news is there’s no integration required. Okay? If you are wanting to share data or are you wanting to access data, it all gets connected auto-magically through the miracle of JDBC, your Java database connector, if you’re following at home. And that’s already set up between TripleBlind and Snowflake. So the users that are sharing data, all they need is permission for the other party. And then they hit the space bar with their forehead and off they go.
AJ:
That makes it sound really streamlined and easy to use. What are the best use cases that you’re seeing right now?
Chris:
Yeah. Great question. So we’re capturing and collecting use cases like a tourist at Disney World or Disneyland collected pins. That’s how many use cases we’re seeing. Right here, I have a list on my desk of about 20 use cases, not brainstormed by marketing, but legitimately from actual customers. Right? So there’s a couple that I’ll hit you with.
Chris:
Any data in the healthcare world that has to be de-identified or anonymized to be HIPAA compliant, we crush any kind of use case like that. Absolutely. Also, on the financial services side, really in any sector, anything that is subject to GDPR rules, regulations, compliance, we’re a fantastic way for people to just get GDPR compliance, not with a big, massive nasty manual process and a bunch of audits, but automatically with our software. Since everything stays encrypted, compliance is built in and we’ve got that documented, proven, backed up by legal opinion and all of that. So those are kind of categories, AJ, of use cases.
Chris:
For specific examples, I won’t go through all 20 of these with you, but I’ll give you two. Okay? The first example from the financial services side, which is just a great specific example, is sovereign wealth funds. Right? You think about the big sovereign wealth funds in Saudi Arabia, in Asia, and all over the world, nothing is more important to them than the privacy of what’s in their portfolio, and all the private personal information in there. And they need to collaborate with the biggest investment banks and insurance companies and portfolio management companies and all data analytics companies around the world. Right? So how do they do that? It’s really, really onerous, bordering on impossible. So literally my phone is melting from big banks that are calling saying they want to get with us and get TripleBlind deployed so that they can work with sovereign wealth funds. So that’s a great example from the financial services side.
Chris:
From the healthcare side, I could give you another 10, but I’ll just give you one example right now. Diagnostics. Advanced diagnostics. Using artificial intelligence to do the latest kind of diagnostic work and predictive work, especially with genetics, and especially with diagnostic imaging. Right? That’s where our partnership with Mayo is built on, to collaborate among many institutions around the world with universities, with researchers, and be able to share not a set of data that’s been really kind of crippled and dumbed down with manual de-identification, but the full data set that’s protected by TripleBlind, run any analysis that’s allowed while the data is encrypted. And that’s really where the magic comes in.
AJ:
Those are some awesome use cases. So for people who are seeing this and find that they’re interested in wanting to learn more, what should they do?
Chris:
Yeah. So definitely come to the website, TripleBlind.ai, and we can get people started. The one thing that I would want everybody to take away from this conversation, when you’re using TripleBlind and you’re already on Snowflake, it just defines easy to get started. That’s really the takeaway. It’s easy to get started. We can run a demo. We can get you into a one-hour workshop where you can be doing it yourself. And you can see it for yourself. Right? This is a testable proposition. We can quickly satisfy you from the standpoint of security, ease of use, getting it out the door, getting the results you want, collaborating with other parties. I know it kind of sounds incredible that we can do all this, but we can show folks really easily that it’s legit and it’s for real.
AJ:
